Lekan Bakare Ready To Be Apapa LG Chairman

A Businesses Administrator and Information Technologist, Ganiyu Lekan Bakare, is one of the leading aspirants working and strategizing to secure the Apapa Local Government, APC Chairmanship ticket in respect of the local government elections, that is due to take place on 22nd July throughout the Lagos State 20 Local Government Councils and 37 Local Council Development Areas of the state.
Lakan, the son of Chief Karim Bakare, former Supervisory Councilor and Chairman Works Committee, in the old Eti-Osa Local Government, that use to have Apapa GRA as a ward, from which he was elected, during the administration of Omo -Oba Murphy Adetoro, as Council Chairman, when they were all elected on the platform of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 1991.
He started his education at one of the schools of Lagos Elites’ children, Corona School, Apapa, later went for his secondary education at the Government College, Port Harcourt Rivers and from there, to the Bayero University, Kano for his first degree in Business Administration, before he proceeded to FA Hamm, Germany for another degree in Information Technology.
As a qualified Information Technologist, Lekan was able to work with, Hochbau Construction Nigeria, Samsung Electronics UK, Ericsson UK Ltd, Baxan Networks Portugal, as a Senior Problem Manager.He was also a Co-Founder of Algrave Racing Hospitality, Lagos, Portugal and Street 99 Nig Ltd.
He worked actively to secure APC’s victory in Apapa in the 2011 and 2015 general elections, as well as in the past local government elections.
From his youthful days Lekan, have been involved in charity works and also contributed in so many ways to the development of Apapa.
He in no small way and has proven to be a true leader in his own right, Humanitarian, with a good foresight towards the development and progress of Apapa, Lagos and Nigeria as a whole.
Lakan who is well connected to almost four, of the Lagos White Cap Chieftaincy Houses in Lagos, three of which are already elevated to Obaship. That is Elegushi of IKate Elegushi, Oniru of Iru in Eti-Osa Local Government and Oloto of Otto in Lagos Mainland.
His father who is well entrenched in Apapa and was one of the founding fathers of the present Apapa Local Government (A creature of the General Sunni Abacha Administration) by his involvement in the generation of one of the Memorandums considered for the creation of the local government, is now the Aro of Ikate-Elegushi, which is one of the High-Chiefs of the modern city in Eti-Osa Local Government.
His mother the Erelu of Otto and Iyalode of Iruland, Chief (Mrs) Muttiat Folashade Bakare is the first daughter of Chief M.A Fagbayi, late Building Contractor of note and son of the soil in old Otto town, in Lagos Mainland.
She was a Supervisor for Agric in Apapa Local Government and Head of the National Council for Women's Society, in the Babangida era.
Ganiu Lekan Bakare started active politics, when he joined the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) one of the major parties that fused together to form the present APC, but was born into politics, as you could see, that both his father and mother are politicians, who have also served Apapa Local Government in the past.
The aspirant, he also said have also played some part in his contribution to Apapa politics, when he was young and his parents were active, by assisting in the provision of tables and chairs to be used for political meetings in their house and in the serving of the attendees, with light refreshments after such meetings, which according to him, should be computed to his years of involvement in politics.
