Prominent Members Of Yaba APC To     Contest Council Chairmanship Ticket

Prominent members of APC in Yaba LCDA have signified their intentions to contest for the LCDA chairmanship ticket, in the fast approaching party primary election, to pick the party’s Candidate for the  next July, local government elections, in Lagos State, 

 

Amongst those who have shown interests in the contest are, Alhaji Alade Grillo, a former LGA Chairman of the defunct AD and AC parties and later was the Supervisor for Works in the two term administrations of Hon. Jide Jimoh of the LCDA, 

 

The immediate past Executive Secretary and two terms Deputy Chairman of the Hon. Jide Jimoh's administrations, Mrs. Bola Olumegbon Lawal, who is one of the two ladies in the LCDA known to be in the race, is very much serious about the contest

 

Hon. Abel Femi Enikanologbon is making waves in the LCDA as a potential candidate of the party, judging by the rate at which the light complexioned gentleman, have been going by his campaign.

His performance when he was the Supervisor for Women Affairs In LCDA, during his membership of the cabinet of the Hon. Jide Jimoh's administrations of the LCDA, has made him the toast of the womenfolks in the locality.

Aspirants

 

Hon. Kayode Omiyale, another very serious contender for the ticket is an Educationist by profession, who is currently a Director in the Lagos State Civil Service,   the gentleman who intend to serve people of Yaba LCDA as next Mayor, Omiyale obtained his 1st and 2nd Degrees from the University of Lagos and was lucky to have also been sponsored to China for a 2 weeks certificated course in education by the Lagos State Government and joined politics during the short lived 3rd Republic. One of the Leaders in the LCDA has described him as one to beat in this contest.

 

Also aspiring for the ticket, is a Councilor in the late Chief Bolaji Oni led Council of the old Lagos Mainland Local Government Council, Hon. Micheal Duru and a cabinet member in the two terms of  Hon, Jide Jimoh, who as a very accommodating and friendly personality, was always ready to put smiles into people's faces whenever he is in a position to do so. 

That was why is office became the rallying point of politicians from other local government, who have one thing or the other to do in Yaba LCDA Secretariat.

 

A  textile merchantand Chief Executive  Officer of Y S Fabrics, Alhaji Yunusa Shabi, who is also a younger brother to the pioneer Chairman of the LCDA, (Engineer Rasheed Shabi), is one of the members of who have written the party about their aspirations and his seen to is working seriously and tapping the goodwill of Shabi Family in Ebute-Meta, as well as those of his elder brother, who made his marks while holding the office.

 

A core grass root politician, certificated community development expert, from the Institute of Public Administration & Extension Services, University of Benin and Human Right Activist of repute Comrade Adewale Adeniyi Balogun,  who was detained at SIIB Panti Street, Lagos in May 1994, because of his active involvement in the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) affairs during the administration of late.General Sanni Abacha, is another one of those that have taken contest very seriously.

Adewale was a former Chairman of both Lagos Mainland Residents Association (LMRA) and Mainland Consultative Forum (MCF).

 

In the same vain an Engineer in the Oil and Gas Industry Chief Ehi Kayode, who have initiated a lots of poverty alleviation programmes to promote his aspiration, which has considerably  endeared him to the hearts of a lot of party faithful, is very serious in archiving his ambition to serve the people of Yaba LCDA and he is seen as treat to a lot  of the major contenders, as one of his admirers, who which to remain anonymous said "The free and easy accessibility of people to him and the his straightforwardness are helping his course in no small way".

 

Another gentleman aspiring to get the ticket is Hon Jude Aisuebeogun, a former Councilor and Deputy Leader in the Hon. Bashiru Bolarinwa's administration of the old Mainland Local Government, that encompasses the present Yaba LCDA, who have on several occasion served the party in electoral processes of forming party local government executive committees.

He was some time appointed the Director-General of the Atan Cemetery Management Committee.  one of the aspirants for the ticket.

Aspirants

Ayo Williams, who stared his political activism in Lagos Island East LCDA and the brain behind the Asiwaju Youth Congress, one of the independent organizations  that complimented party campaign activities, that won the second term election for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2003.

A Senior Special Assistant on environmental to the governor of Lagos State on two or more occasions, he is on of the Mainland Voice aspirants working to secure the chairmanship ticket.

 

 Also making waves in the contest is Mr. Bolanle Nurudeen Aileru, a descendant of late Alhaji Nuru Oniwo, of old-Lagos fame, who was one of the major financiers of the defunct NCNC, the national party founded by the late father of Nigeria's nationality. Herbert Macaulay,  is one of the major contenders for the ticket.

 

Aileru a graduate of Psychology and Humanities of Lagos State University (LASU), who after serving for couple of years with the Nigerian Customs, that afforded him the opportunity to work at both Nigeria' Air and Sea Ports and become an expert in security management and before he left to work with the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and (Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (HACO).

 

He is now the CEO of a company that is into clearing and forwarding business another experience mastered during his working with those organizations of federal government.

 

Also making  waves in contest is, Alhaji Rauf Ayodeji, who's objective in politics according  to him is "to guide democratic practices, provide effective and efficient leadership  and management in any elected /Appointment that my political party APC may offer thru party and people mandate" 

Hewas a member of the Management Committee of the LCDA, headed by Mrs. Olumegbon-Lawal and a former Chairman Job Creation and Public Complaint Committee of the LCDA, 

                 

Aspirants

Record shows that Ayodeji, have organized in the past a free training on 21st century classroom management techniques for Head-Teachers of Primary and Junior Hgh Schools in the LCDA, he also have constructed Benches for for usage at the venues of all Wards meeting in the LCDA.

 

A  Unionistsof over 22years experience, who have two terms as the Councilor, representing the Iwaya Ward Hon. Tunde Williams, is one of the aspirants

 

Coming into the race from the Elites Ward  (Ward C), is  Hon. Olasunkanmi Kamson, whose Grandfather, late Chief Joseph Folarin Kamson, an industrialist, owned the vast parcel of land on which UNILAG stands today, before same was acquired for over riding public interest.

Olasunkanmi, a son of Engr. Tokunboh Kamson, the former Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Civil Service, who turned a politician and contested for the PDP Lagos State Governorship ticket on two occasions.

Hon. Kamson, made history when he won, the election that made him a Councillor of his ward, with the Grassroots Democratic Movement (GDM)'s ticket, in spite of the  influence of his uncle, late Hon. Olatunde Kamson, who was then a prominent  member of the popular UNCP, on which ticket late Olatunde, won the election to the Lagos State House of Assembly to represent the Lagos Mainland Constituency 11.

Hon.Olasunkanmi, is a prominent  figure In the Redeemed Christian Church, was also the Supervisor for Agriculture, Youth and Sports in the AD Lagos Mainland Local Government Council, administration of Hon. Bashiru Bolarinwa.

Aspirants

Meanwhile the battle for the ticket remains a straight one between aspirants from the Hon. Jide Jimoh led Mainland Voice (MV) and that being led by Hon. Tunji Bello, the Mainland Independent Group (MIG), theNew Vision (NV)  of Hon. Monsuru Owolabi and grass rooted none aligned aspirants.

 

 As we were about to publish, APC Watch reliably gathered that, at a caucus meeting of the Leadership of the Mainland Voice held somewhere in Ebute Meta last week Monday, with about Twenty Six Chairmanship aspirants from both Lagos Mainland Local Government Area and Yaba Local Council Development Area in attendance, all the aspirants resolved to abide with the decision of the caucus's screening committees that would recommend and pick the 2 carcus' nominees for the contest with other from other groups in the local government ares, 

According to the reliable source, the arrangement would now give approvals to only the lucy two from the carcus to by forms from the state secretariat for the primaries

The Meeting was presided over by its Leader, Hon. Jide Jimoh and was assisted by, Hon. Oladele Adekanye, Alhaji S Farayola and other leaders of the carcus.
