The Lagos Island members of APC are gearing towards picking the chairmanship candidate for the Lagos Island local government council, in preparation for the forthcoming local government election in Lagos State of Nigeria.

The contest which is becoming more interesting day by day, shall be remembered for a long time, as those contesting for the party ticket that would eventually lead to the eventual user of the Mayoral garland at the Zappas Building.. The "Golden Ticket" now being contested for by.6 gentlemen

The six contestants could also be categorized into two, one being the leading group and other group, could be referred to as that of those who could spring surprise, as no one could be written off in any contest, due to the element of luck.

In the leading group are two Princes of Lagos, both of which are descendants of Oba Akinsemoyin. Prince Adetoyese Tijani Olusi, who is on record to have been in the corridor of power of Lagos Island for close to 12 years, having been the Supervisor for Health and later for Special Duties, in the Mrs. Derin Disu administration.

He was again the two terms, the Deputy Chairman of the highly rated governments of Hon. Wasiu Eshinlokun and for another 20 months, he was also the local government Executive Secretary.

The second Prince of Lagos in the categoryis,  Prince Taoreed Adewale Ojora, a colleague  ofToye Olusi, in the administration of Derin Disu, who then was the Supervisor for Works and later Secretary to the Local Government and currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Enforcement Training Institute,

Hon. Moshood Mayegun, the third in that category, is a gentleman who was

a former Supervisor for Education in the Lagos Mainland Local Government Council,

who later served as the ACN Party Chairman, in Lagos Island Local Government and presently serving his second term as the Education Secretary, the Local Island Education Distract

Mayegun, who like Ojora is mobilizing seriously to archive his aim of becoming the next council chairman, is coming from the same caucus with Toye Olusi (Atari Ajanaku) which is being led by the Deputy Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly. Hon. Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni, .

In the second category is, another a gentleman, from the royal and sever chieftaincy houses of Lagos, Prince Ajibade Nosiru Ayeni (Omobalufon),  who during the contest for the second term ticket of Hon. Wasiu Eshinokun Sanni, came from political obscurity to become a household name in Lagos Island, by presenting himself as a credible alternative but, was rejected and immediately after the contest, the  IT guru just went into a political hibernation.

He has relaunched him self on the social network and still enjoying the support of a powerful traditional ruler, who according to Ajibade's supporters is working hard to secure the ticket for him.

A new comer in the Lagos Island politics, who is a successful Real Estate Professionar,

himself another Prince of Lagos, also from the Akinshemoyin linage, Prince Adebiyi Rilwan Modile is another person aspiring, to clinch the ticket and working assiduously to get that done, not minding big names in the contest and preparing himself for this and future elections.

Alhaji Jimoh AdemiladeOwokoniran, a film and home video Actor and Producer, is working quietly and strategically to clinch the ticket. He is coming from the same Ward A3 like Olusi and Modile.

Meanwhile, at a meeting held somewhere in Ikoyi last week Tuesday, the Lagos Island leaders resolved to give Toyese all the necessary backing and support that would turn his dream into reality. This therefore has necessitated the leaders call on their followership, to vote en mass for Toyese.

You would recall that, the members of the local government and Ward Executives, who are to constitute the electoral college, that would elect the party candidate, were able to secure those offices, through the influences of the party leaders.

Though, the weigh this these forces thrown behind Olusi's aspiration, has failed to intimidate, the other aspirants in the same category with Olusi, judging by the way at which, they continue to prepare for the party primary, show that Ojora and Mayegun are working individually to win the race.

Especially, when Party Executive members are reported to be rushing to the campaign meetings of the "New order Groups" that is those of Ojora, somewhere in Idumagbo and Mayegun's in Isalegangan, which a leading  member of the groups say it is a signal that People are clamoring for change

They have both, in no small way, been able to confirm that, they are no surrogates and are in the contest for real, these situations, which a political analysts says, must be giving the "Establishment Group"  (That is those behind the aspiration of Olusi) sources of concern.

In the same vain. one of LGA officers and an agent of the "Establishment Group"  who is working for Adetoyese, boasted that "Politics is a game of number, the nomination of Prince Adetoyese is a foregone conclusion"

Chairman of the campaign group of one of the "New Order Groups" in a chat with APC Watch said  "We are not in the contest to boast, just wait and you will see that end shall justify the means"
