One of the most leading APC caucus in the area of Lagos State, know as old Lagos Mainland Local Government Area, that encompasses the present Lagos Mainland and Yaba Local Council Development Area, Mainland Voice, after series of meetings and thorough screening activities, has reduced the numbers of the group members, aspiring to clinch the APC Chairmanship tickets in the two localities, to six each.

The action of the caucus, which is being led by the former Yaba LCDA Chairman, Honourable Jide Jimoh, who is presently representing the two localities at the Federal House of Representatives, in line with the Party's State Council directive to local chapters of the party, to reduce the number of Chairmanship aspirants to manageable proportions, have therefore, trimmed down members of the caucus running for the party tickets in the two localities.

 

This according to our source within, the leadership have been engaged in activities to

prone down the figure, so as not to divide the bulk votes that should win the ticket for a member of the caucus and to consolidate their votes, at the Party primary elections scheduled for 13th May 2017.

                   

Aspirants

 

Failure of the caucus' leadership, to be able to pick a consensus candidate, for each of the localities as at Wednesday, therefore, in alternative compelled them to pick the first six aspirants by their by rating and assessments, from each locality out of over twenty from each contesting.

 

The six from each of the localities were only authorized, to pick party nomination forms, so as to be able meet with deadline, as contained in the party's time table and and guidelines.

 

In Lagos Mainland Local Government Area chapter of the caucus, Hon. Jubril Emilagba, a former Vice-Chairman of the old Lagos Mainland Local Government Area, who was elected on joint-ticket of the defunct Alliance for Democracyon with Hon.Bashiru Omolaja Bolarinwa as Chairman, was one of those authorized to pick nomination forms.

Another former Deputy Chairman, but in the present Lagos Mainland Local Government, in the two-term administrations of Hon. Oladele Adekanye, who also was the immediate past Executive Secretary of the Local Government, Mrs. Omolola Essien, also made the list.

 

Former LGA Chairman during the eras of the defunct Alliance for Democracy (AD) and Action Congress (AC,) who also served as the Supervisor for Works in the two terms administration of Hon. Oladele Adekanye 

He also was the Chairman of Ambode Campaign Organization, in the local government area, Alhaji Jamiu Makanjuola also successfully crossed the hurdle.

 

Also chosen was Comrade Adewale Yusuf, a former leader of the Lagos Island branch of the National Union of Local Government Employers (NULGE) who has promised to put his knowledge of the remote and secret aspect of local government administration and use his administration of the local government, if given the mandate, he also rely on the cooperation of workers in pushing the local government forward.  

 

Dayo Israel, a member of the caucus, who was accused of "jumping of gun" by picking his nomination form, while the caucus leadership were busy fine-tuning and working on how to arrive at a popular and acceptable modalities to prone down the figure of aspirants from the their stables, but so as not to exceed figure of 6 per locality, was listed, but with asterisk, that at a point,the pendulum of critical decision may tilt  against him.

The sixth person in that category from the local government area, is one member of the caucus, Hon. Wasiu Ogunniyi, whom we are unable to meet before making this publication.

 

In Yaba Local Council Development Area, Alhaji Alade Grillo, a former LGA Chairman of the defunct AD and AC parties and who later was the Supervisor for Works in the two-term administrations of Hon. Jide Jimoh of the LCDA, is one of the lucky six.

 

Another major contender for the ticket, who scaled the hurdle, is  Hon. Kayode Omiyale, an Educationist by profession and until recently was a Director in the Lagos State Civil Service. He obtained his 1st and 2nd Degrees from the University of Lagos and was sometime, sponsored to China for a 2 weeks certificated course also in education by the Lagos State Government. He is one of the first six on the list of aspirants from the caucus.

 

One gentleman, who also made the caucus list is,  Hon.Ayo Williams, a Senior Special Assistant on environmental to the governor of Lagos State on two or more occasions, who stared his political activism on Lagos Island East LCDA .

He was the brain behind the Asiwaju Youth Congress, one of the independent organizations that complimented the party campaign activities, that won the second term election for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2003.

Mr. Bolanle Nurudeen Aileru, a graduate of Psychology and Humanities of Lagos State University (LASU), who after serving for couple of years with the Nigerian Customs, that afforded him the opportunity to work at both Nigeria's Air and Sea Ports and become an expert in security managemen, before he left to work with the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and (Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (HACO).

Aileru is a descendant of late Alhaji Nuru Oniwo, of old-Lagos fame, who was one of the major financiers of the defunct NCNC, the national party founded by the late father of Nigeria's nationality. Herbert Macaulay,  is one of the six that would move to the next stage of the contest.

Also given the go ahead to pick a nomination form was, a party leader in Lagos Mainland of old, Hon. Bola Balogun, who was the Supervisor for Education, in the Social Democratic Party (SDP) administration of Chief Oyemade, he also was the State Assistant General of the Justice Forum, until it was proscribed along with other groups within the party and until the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) fused with others in 2013 to form the present All Progressives Congress (APC) he was the Lagos State Treasurer of the party.

 

Hon. Sheu Ibrahim Ishola, the Personal Assistant to Hon. Bashiru Omolaja Bolarinwa, who later was elected as a Councilor of the old Lagos Mainland Local Government, where he was the Chief Whip in the first tenure and in the second, he was elected the Leader of the Council's legislative arm. Ishola was also appointed the Supervisor for Agric, Rural, Social and Community Development, in the administrations of Hon. Jide Jimoh,

                   

Aspirants

As part of Ishola's plan to meet the challenges associated with the post he is gunning for, he has furthered his education and he is now, an  Associate Chartered Public Administrator (ACPA) of the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration. He is the sixth on the caucus list.

These arrangements have not forclosed further trimming of the figure of the aspirants,as the caucus can not afford to lose the election to an aspirant from another camp, as a result of division, as hinted by the APC Watch immpecable source within the caucus.
