At a jam packed Stakeholders meeting, held wednesday at the Lagos State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, Ikeja, the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, cleared two important issues that have been making rounds, as rumors with different versions in the last couple of week amongst members of the party in the state.

The two issues that came up, as the agenda of the meeting, which was the first of it kind in the last two years, were on the automatic tickets for 18 of the last set of local government chairmen and eligibility of the immediate past Executive Secretaries to contest the forth coming local government elections.

The positions of the party on the issues were left for the most respected personality in party, who is also referred to as the oracle of politics in Lagos State, nay greater parts of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to proclaimed.

Asiwaju narrated to the mar mouth gathering, the covenant between the party leadership and then sitting local government council chairmen, during 2015 general elections.

According to Asiwaju, the party assured them of automatic second term tickets, if they could successfully man their local government areas, such that would make nonsense of the unprecedented plans of winning Lagos State at all cost, by then powerful PDP federal government, that saw, then President Jonathan relocating to Lagos State for weeks preceding the elections.

Since they have successfully played their part of the deal,was able to convince his listeners that, it is now behooves the party to reciprocate by giving them the promised tickets.

 

Asiwaju who spoke in Yoruba most part of the meeting,except when he said  “2015 election was the greatest battle of our time,“We are grateful to you people,for your great support during the 2015 election. We have continued to hold Lagos in spite of strong opposition.

“Governor Ambode has not let us down; he is doing a fantastic job in an environment where we have the economic challenges. He is doing it and he is doing very very well.

“He has a very good team. He is doing a great job and we are very proud of that”.

The Jagaban Borgu futher said " To appease some people, we asked the government to allow the Executive Secretaries to take over after the tenure of last council chairmen expired, instead of civil servants.

“That was why executive secretaries were chosen to pave way for politicians.

“When the term expired, we used sole administrators, but before we used them, we warned them that `when the elective position comes, you are not entitled to contest’.

“We agreed that time, we cannot change it overnight; Executive Secretaries, however, can contest.”

Asiwaju Tinubu further told the party faithfuls that, number of the former local government Chiefs that qualified for the automatic tickets were 19, but the recent death of one of them, late Hon. Durosinmi of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area reduced their figure to 18.

The party leader also announced that, leadership of the party, have also resolved that, the  immediate past Executive Secretaries shall have the rights to contest, as they are not on seat now, such to suggest that, their presence in offices, could be used to favored their plans to succeed self.

                              

 

He said rather it was, the serving Sole Administrators that would not be qualified to participate in this local government elections.
