Control Of The Soul Of Ibeju-Lekki Local Council Divides Local Leaders

The decision to return for a second term, the immediate past Chairman of the present Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Council. Hon (Dr.) Kemi Surakaru, by some APC leaders of the old Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, (out of which the present Lekki Local Council Development Council was carved out) is very much at the advance stage and has divided the one big and united leadership forum into two major blocks, in the local government area.

   

                             

 

 

                            

The other equally powerful group of leaders, who are against Surakat are rooting for Hon. Ashimiu Oluwatele Akobada, theonly challenger of of Surakat. 

 

According to our source in the locality, the heavy weighs behind Hon.Surakat's candidature are the Lagos State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Hon. Muslim Folami, the former LGA Chairman of Alliance for Democracy 

(AD) and Action Congress (AC) in the old Ibeju-Lekki Local Council, who latter also represented Ibeju-Lekki Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives and present Apex leader of the party in present Ibeju-Lekki LGA, Hon. Babatunde Ishaq.

                                             

 

Another is that block is the pioneer Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Council, who is now serving his second term, representing the Ibeju-Lekki Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives. Hon. Abayomi Aiyeola, as well as the sitting Sole Administrator of Ibeju-Lekki Local Council, Hon. Idowu ........ and the two term member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, from the Ibeju-Lekki Constituency 11, Hon. Raheem A Kazeem

 

The Party leader in Epe Division, Alhaji Shakiru Akanni Seriki (Bamu) and the sitting Sole Administrator of the local government, Hon. Surakatu Adigun are also being mentioned as a major supporters of the project, thought these are yet to be confirmed, 

                                          

 

In the other side of the divide are, the powers behind the candidature of Hon. Ashimiu Oluwatele Akobada, which is being led by,  a former Chairman of the old Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Council, who also served in the second administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Commissioner for Rural Development and later Education now the leader of Joint Apex Body of the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area and Lekki Local Council Development Area of the party caucus, Dr. Tola Kasali.

                          

A former Local Government Secretary, latter Chairman of the old Ibeju-Lekki Local Council, who is presently a Commissioner in the Lagos State House of Assembly Commission, Hon Bayo Balogun and the two term member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing the Ibeju-Lekki Constituency 1, Hon Mojeed Fatayi are also part of the pillars behind Akobada.

  

                          

Other powerful personalities behind Akobada are, a powerfully former Lagos State Permanent Secretary, leader of the defunct Action Congress, later of the People Democratic Party, who recently returned to the All Progressives Congress with Hundreds of his supporters, Alhaji Bode Akindele.

                                      

 

 

 

Akobada is also enjoying the support of Hon. Idowu Eletu, who has represented the Ibeju-Lekki Constituency 1 at the Lagos State of Assembly before.
